My Review of HideAway Pets

HideAway Pets
As a mom, it seemed as if my daughter’s bed was so cluttered with stuffed animals of every shape and size that she could barely fit in the bed. Many of them had seen better days and I begged my daughter to give up a few.

However, this always sent her into a fit and I would resign myself to keeping her collection. Then, my daughter saw an ad for HideAway Pets and immediately started squealing for “the mama kitty cat.”

I was intrigued, an adorable stuffed animal that could be curled away, leaving more room for her in the bed. Perhaps this was the answer to our problem.

After quite a bit of negotiating with my 3 year old, she agreed to give up a few of her old animals for two HideAway Pets. I had won!

How Do HideAway Pets Work?

HideAway pets are just plush, stuffed animals that can be "rolled up" into a little ball when you're done playing with them (or when you want to play a game of catch with them!)

There are several animals to choose from. In addition, they can be purchased in three sizes:
  • Baby (5 inches)
  • Standard (15 inches)
  • Jumbo (available by request)
They are easy to use, even for my daughter. You simply roll them out for play and roll them into a ball when you are done. There are no separate or mechanical parts to worry about and no batteries are needed.

What HideAway Pets CanYou Choose From?

  • Penguin
  • Persian Kitten
  • Hedgehog
  • Siberian Husky
  • African Lion
  • Snow Monkey
  • Lop Eared Bunny
Here's the commercial in case you haven't seen it:

Pros

  • They are adorable. In fact, unlike some stuffed animals she has had in the past, I am not embarrassed when she takes her pet out in public.
  • They are incredibly soft.
  • They are easy to take care of. You can easily throw it in the washing machine when it needs a “bath”.
  • When rolled up, they make a great pillow, especially for quick naps in the car. My daughter has a jumbo Persian cat that she uses as a pillow at bedtime, as well.
  • They can be used as an indoor ball for a quick game of catch. As many times as my son has accidently throw our lion into things in the living room, nothing has been broken.
  • They appeal to boys and girls.
  • While not intended to be an educational toy, they do offer a learning opportunity. My daughter has learned all about African lions, including where they live, what they eat, and how they act in the wild.

Cons

  • Not yet available in stores, so if you order one and decide you want more, you will have to wait for them to be shipped again.
  • While I haven't heard of this happening or experienced it myself, I suppose the plastic eyes and nose can become detached by a child who yanks or bites too hard. They seem pretty secure to me, but it's something to keep in mind if you have a very young child playing with the HideAway Pets (this is the case with almost any stuffed animal though).

Where Can You Buy HideAway Pets?

As I mentioned in the Cons, HideAway Pets aren't available in stores at the moment. The best place to purchase your HideAway Pet is going to be from the official website www.HideAwayPets.com

The prices are great and they currently offer a bonus HideAway pet baby and 7 free adventure cards with your purchase. You only pay shipping and handling for the bonus items.

Final Thoughts

HideAway Pets are ideal for young children, particularly those that have a fondness for stuffed animals. They prove to be a great gift idea for birthdays, holidays, or just because. I really like how soft they are and how they can be rolled up when your child is done using them, making for easy storage.
